Marriages

Marriages

What do I need to get married?

You first of all need someone to get married to! And a calendar date! The date you have to set with The Full Family Ministries office well in advance.

A. Civil Marriage (guys and girls)

If you need to married in a Civil Marriage, I need the following documentation from both parties:

  1. Your South African Identity Book (the green one). (If you are not a South African citizen, we need an official letter from your embassy, stating that you are a resident of your country of residence and that you are a bachelor/spinster/divorced. We also need your passport indicating that you have entered South Africa legally.)
  2. Two ID photographs (the same pics) of you and your partner to be. That makes it four recent ones altogether.
  3. If you have been married before, we need the original High Court Statement of Divorce. (We will make copies and certify the copies).
  4. The ID books of each of the two people who will be witnessing for you at the day of your wedding. Please make two clear photocopies of each. I will certify them.
  5. Do not neglect to consider whether you want to keep your surname. We need to know under which surname you want the marriage to be registered.
  6. Please also have a look at the following website regarding pre-nuptial contracts. (http://www.celebration.co.za/spies-attorneys/index.php ) We encourage couples to take out this contract BEFORE THEY GET MARRIED, as it is not only applicable at divorce, but also should one party become insolvent, the other party will still be able to build business in his/her own capacity and name not affecting the other party. In this way you can survive a possible disaster.
  7. An administrative fee of R800 per wedding is payable before the wedding takes place.
  8. If you are getting married outside Bloemfontein, travelling & accommodation costs for the Pastor (couple) will be for your account.

B. Civil Union Marriage (Girls & girls; boys & boys)

If you need to married in a Civil Union Marriage, I need the following documentation from both parties:

  1. Your South African Identity Book (the green one). (If you are not a South African citizen, I need an official letter from your embassy, stating that you are a resident of that country and that you are a bachelor/spinster. I also need your passport indicating that you entered South Africa legally.)
  2. If you have been married before, I need the original High Court Statement of Divorse. (I will make copies and sertificate the copies).
  3. Two ID photographs (the same pics) of you and your partner to be. That makes it four recent ones altogether.
  4. The ID books of each of the two people who will be witnessing for you at the day of your wedding. They need to be South African citizens. Please make two clear photocopies of each. I will certify them.
  5. Do not neglect to consider whether you want to keep your surname or take the name of the other person. Maybe a double barrel surname. We need to know under which surname(s) you want the marriage to be registered.
  6. Also please consider whether you want your marriage to be stipulated in the SA Population Register as (a) a Civil Union, or (b) a Marriage. There is no difference – only the naming of your official relationship. You will enjoy all the priviledges as stipulated for all South African marriages in the Bill of Rights.
  7. In this way you could prevent a financial disaster.
  8. An non-refundable adminstrative fee of R800 per wedding is payable at the date of your booking. Proof of payment is essential.
  9. If you are getting married outside Bloemfontein, travelling & accommodation costs for the marriage officer and company will be for your account.
